About Me

My name is Alex and I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to bold color and expressive work. In high school I was known for bringing pieces to life while others stayed in grayscale. Art has always felt natural to me and over time it became something I knew I wanted to build my life around.

I studied fine arts and illustration at Pratt Institute where I strengthened my foundation in color theory, figure drawing, painting, and design. I also explored digital illustration, but eventually realized I missed working with my hands and creating something more physical, something that exists in the real world and holds weight.

Tattooing has always been in the background of my life. Even when I was younger I would draw designs on my skin and imagine them as permanent pieces. That idea of permanence has always been what pulls me in the most. There is something powerful about creating work that stays with someone forever, becoming part of their story and identity.

After years of self teaching, building my portfolio, and pushing through a lot of rejection, I finally stepped into a shop environment where I learned sanitation, setup, and the rhythm of the industry. I’ve recently started tattooing skin and I’m constantly growing with every piece I do.

I’m really grateful to be at Black Heart Tattoo Gallery as a junior artist and I’m excited to keep evolving, meeting new people, and creating work that lasts a lifetime. I’m especially drawn to illustrative work focused on gothic imagery, and I also want to develop my skills in realism while continuing to learn and understand all styles of tattooing so I can become as well rounded and adaptable as possible.

Outside of tattooing I’m heavily involved in all things art. I also work as a makeup artist and I love experimenting with bold looks. I’m a big music geek, I collect trinkets and small objects that feel meaningful, and I’m always looking at ways to turn everyday inspiration into something creative and lasting.
